Square-Stalked Willowherb (Epilobium tetragonum) (20/08/2023) Southbank Equestrian, Henfield (by soak away). On the face of it, this could also be American Willowherb or Short-Fruited Willowherb as they too have club-shaped stigmas. But American has more deeply cleft petals (and different leaves) and Short-Fruited has different leaves too as per later images.

Broad Leaved (left), Square-Stalked (middle) and Hoary (right) Willowherbs (29/06/2020) Southbank Barn, New Hall Lane, Small Dole, Henfield (paving slabs by front door). A useful comparision - there are 3 Willowherb species here: lower left is Broad-Leaved, middle is Square-Stalked and right is Hoary Willowherb.
Square-Stalked Willowherb (Epilobium tetragonum) (23/06/2020) Southbank Equestrian, Henfield (arena bank adjacent to field). Note the extremely lanceolate leaves held erect as they often are on this species. Stems are round and only square further down towards the base of the plant.
Square-Stalked Willowherb (Epilobium tetragonum) (23/06/2020) Southbank Barn, New Hall Lane, Small Dole, Henfield (in a crack in the paving in the garden). The profusion of narrowly lanceolate and toothed leaves which are shiny-green (not dull green like Short-Fruited). American Willowherb, again with similar flowers, has broader leaves.
Square-Stalked Willowherb (Epilobium tetragonum) (01/07/2021) Southbank Equestrian, Henfield (by fence along track to car park field). A bunch of them. Not the similar Short-Fruited Willowherb beccause of these narrow leaves with lots of teeth (the latter has broader, shorter leaves with spaced-out teeth).
Square-Stalked Willowherb (Epilobium tetragonum) (01/07/2021) Southbank Equestrian, Henfield (by fence along track to car park field). Absolute classic leaves for Square-Stalked - strap-shaped and toothed (Short-Fruited has broader leaves with more spaced-out teeth). Also these are shiny-green, not the dull green of Short-Fruited.

Square-Stalked Willowherb (Epilobium tetragonum) (13/06/2020) Southbank Barn, New Hall Lane, Small Dole, Henfield (by front door). Gone to seed - Square-Stalked because of these very narrow, lanceolate leaves and also the long seed pods.
Square-Stalked Willowherb (Epilobium tetragonum) (29/06/2020) Southbank Barn, New Hall Lane, Small Dole, Henfield (By front door). The long brown things are the outsides of the long seed pods which have now split open to reveal their seeds with fine hairs for travelling in the breeze (some at the top). The one on the right the pod is opening. They tend to droop because they are so long (Short-Fruited tend to be more upright because the pods are short - hence its name!).
